[Emily Potts] Last week we were inspired by three amazing artists: Henning Wagenbreth, Sophie Dutertre and Placid. In keeping with the French artist theme, I’m starting off this week’s Creative Chain with an illustrator I deeply admire and respect.

Books by the Foot Surprisingly, people who buy books by the foot are not just looking to fill their bookshelves. But if you want to easily fill your bookshelves with color combinations, murder mysteries, the classics or leather bound books, Strand Bookstore is at your service with Books by the Foot. Jenny McKibben says, “I have all kinds of customers, from the hotel chain that wants to include local- and regional-interest books in a new location to working parents who love bios but have no time to shop. Though our collections are by the foot, 99% of the customers I work with want to review and edit the title list preview I give them before the books ship. Collections can be customized accordingly to fit any person’s reading or visual interests.” If you have the time, browsing through the bookstore is always a pleasure. But imagine opening a box of books tailored specifically to you. [KR]
