Playtype began as an online type foundry, where users could purchase and download fonts created in the past 20 years by designers at e-Types. Wanting to break away from the digital world, e-Types opened the Playtype pop-up shop last December. Decorated with enormous letters on the windows and walls, the shop sells posters, notebooks, T-shirts, mugs, wine and more — all featuring the fonts designed at e-Types over the years. You can buy the fonts on credit card-esque flash drives as opposed to downloading them, and they’re offering a free download of Zetta Sans, too.
In press materials, Rasmust Ibfelt, partner and managing director at e-Types, describes Playtype’s purpose as more than just a store: “The offline shop is a way of starting a dialogue with a wider audience about the significance of typography. It is also a place where we can experiment with our craft. A place where our designers can have a cool idea on a Monday and see it come to life in the shop the following week.”
So, who’s heading to Copenhagen?

Cool post. Thanks for the heads up.
