Destinations: Sean Adams, in a tropical mode

[Sean Adams] Each September I go to Kona Village on the big island of Hawaii. Kona Village is not right for you if you like lots of noise, wild evenings and loud television.

But if you want your own thatched roof hale (house), quiet and uneventful evenings, no television, radios or phones, you’ll like Kona Village. The trick is to FedEx a box of books before you go. Then you do nothing but sit on the beach and read a book a day. And eat too much coconut pie.

Sean Adams only looks like he’s just come back from vacation. Truth is, he works harder than most of us, running AdamsMorioka (the design firm in which he partners with Noreen Morioka), writing for his blog, Burning Settler’s Cabin — and finding time to support the design industry (he’s immediate past president of AIGA).
