[Tom Biederbeck] What high school student doesn’t have ideas about how to make school better? Putting those ideas into a positive context is School: By Design, a new award from Design Ignites Change and Designers Accord that asks high school students — with their college and professional design mentors — to “redesign your school.” In support, the Mohawk Feedback Loop Notebook project launches today on Felt & Wire Shop with a spectacular array of unique letterpress notebooks.

Paper Art alla Milanese [Tracy Smith] It’s one thing to see beautiful things created by putting ink on paper; it’s another thing entirely to see the amazing work people do with paper without opening a can of ink. Look at the paper art presented at the Cloister of the Basilica San Simpliciano during Milan Design Week, for instance. Students {yes, students!} from the Free University of Bozen were the creative force behind this beautiful installation this past April. I find myself envious of the talent and patience of these Exacto-wielding artists. Nota bene: Tomorrow on Felt & Wire, a chat with paper engineer Matt Shlian about teaching folks to fold.
