[Tom Biederbeck] What high school student doesn’t have ideas about how to make school better? Putting those ideas into a positive context is School: By Design, a new award from Design Ignites Change and Designers Accord that asks high school students — with their college and professional design mentors — to “redesign your school.” In support, the Mohawk Feedback Loop Notebook project launches today on Felt & Wire Shop with a spectacular array of unique letterpress notebooks.

So Noted: FPO [Laura Shore] We were sorry to learn a few weeks back that Bryony Gomez-Palacio and Armin Vit had closed down their blog, Speak Up. For the past few years, Speak Up was like the water cooler we never had, with gossip, stories, and lively conversation about design. How surprised we were to open up Facebook and see Armin and Bryony back with a NEW blog dedicated to the art of PRINT! Why print? In searching for a point of view that would work in a world where everyone is an author and fewer people are readers, the editors, “looked at topics that interested us or that we knew enough about and topics that were perhaps under-explored online. We settled on the world of print — what better dichotomy than a web-based blog for print only?” The site is just getting started and is a bit thin on content at the moment, so head on over and submit your work and start commenting. We hope maybe they’ll mention paper from time to time ….
